Wood Transport and Logistics 2023: Leading the Way in Sustainable Solutions

Wood Transport & Logistics 2023 gathered forestry and log transport companies from Australasia, North and South America, and Europe in Rotorua, New Zealand. The event showcased cutting-edge technologies and innovations, focusing on decarbonisation efforts and the adoption of electric, hydrogen, and hybrid solutions.

Recognising the importance of nurturing young talent in the forestry sector, the WIDE Trust sponsored four promising young graduates to attend the event. This support enabled them to engage with industry leaders, learn about cutting-edge technologies, and broaden their understanding of sustainable practices in the field.

The four graduates whose attendance was supported by the WIDE Trust were Drew Wood,  Graduate Harvest Forester and Seamus Bardoul, Forests Roading and Harvest Planning Manager, both of whom work with Rayonier Matariki Forests; Quentin Maley, Harvesting Manager working with Timberlands and Grant Schooley, Woodflow Scheduler working with Manulife Forest Management.

By participating in Wood Transport and Logistics 2023, these young graduates had the unique opportunity to attend presentations, case studies, workshops, and live demonstrations. They gained valuable insights into sustainable transport and logistics practices, learning directly from industry pioneers and exchanging ideas with fellow professionals. This exposure expanded their horizons, fostering their professional growth and enabling them to contribute to the industry's sustainable future.

The experience gained at Wood Transport and Logistics 2023 has paved the way for these young graduates to explore new opportunities in environmental forestry. As they continue their journey in the industry, the insights and knowledge acquired at the event will contribute to their understanding of sustainable forest management and environmental practices.

By investing in young talent, the WIDE Trust directly helps to foster the next generation of professionals who will drive innovation and sustainability. As these graduates continue to apply their knowledge and passion, the industry can look forward to a future shaped by their contributions.
