From exploring the new $63M Rotorua Bio Factory to learning about biomass energy and sustainable bio-products, these events highlighted how the next generation is shaping a circular, resilient, and sustainable bioeconomy.

In 2024, the WIDE Trust supported innovative timber research at the School of Architecture and Planning, funding a project by Billy Pengelly that used underutilised timbers in a new jointing system, resulting in a student-built structure at Summerhill Recreational Park and highlighting the Trust’s commitment to practical, future-focused timber education in Aotearoa.

WIDE Trust supported four young professionals to attend the Carbon Forestry 2025 Conference in Rotorua, where over 300 leaders explored the future of carbon forestry and climate solutions.
